Tips & Advice

General advice for online learning

1 – Documents matter

When working online, many pupils do not have laptops or desktop PCs. Many are using Chromebooks or other devices which rely on online services such as online Word to complete tasks. The smaller the file the better!

2 – PDF Files

PDF files are great for pupils viewing information, however they cannot easily annotate over them or fill in the boxes for submission. If you are going to be setting a task, try to make the task in Word, PowerPoint or Excel.

3 – Publisher files

This is the same as PDF files. Publisher files are only editable on PCs where publisher has been installed. Please try to use Word, PowerPoint or Excel files

If you do not have an office in the house, you can download it for free on a PC or Mac. Take a look at this video here:

5 – Online learning

When setting an online lesson, please remember that an hour online is different to an hour in class. Typically, there will be less interaction online.
